Today Again.

It's Today Again, happy to see the sunrise.
I raise up in my bed and rub my eyes.
A smile forms from my lips, a mistake that silently slips,
slips right past my semiconscious mind.
A mindless mind you'd find,
still half asleep, in mid morning stretch to wake,
the muscles needed moved to make,
that moving morning elixir.
The beautiful beverage to pour, mix and stir,
that stirs the soul to move the mind to wake,
and think of all the steps next to take.
Off to work, school or to play,
it's today again we'll say.
Morning slips right by, sneaky like that waking smile sly,
Soon the morning is today again,
memories of yesterday torment to no end.
I meet the fight with a head held high,
only to keep the tears in a tired eye,
Today again will end,
tonight again will soon come like a welcome friend.
Sleep will over take like a silent storm.
Dreams form, like a hint of something that could be.
Not for me.
Tomorrow comes, it's soon today again.
Sneaky sunrise, no martini shot of life.
Reality rips in like a dull knife.
Moved to make that beautiful elixir,
Coffee, whiskey, stir.
